THE DREAM: I was standing at a sliding glass door that had long blinds on them , the wind started blowing , it was in the country , it was dark in the house , I went to close the blinds , and as I looked out there were like demons dressed in costumes , I closed the door as fast as I could , was very scared , I turned around and there was a little girl , I couldnt see her face , but she was terrified , and shaking , I said take my hand ...she did and we headed for the front door ..I was thinking we needed to get out ..We ran to the front door , hand in hand , went out front and there were 3 more "people" out front , in weird costumes ...I was scared and the little girl was terrified ..I said to the people "in Gods name GO " it felt sooo evil ...we were going to run for the car ...I woke up , and made myself stay awake because I was afraid of going back to sleep and starting it all over , this was 3 days ago and is still vivid in my head ???


THE INTERPRETATION: Scary dreams, especially ones that keep us awake are meant to call our attention. To get us to "wake up" to something. It seems like you might already know what this is about. But, here are my thoughts on the symbolism represented in the dream. I hope they can provide some more clarity for you.   

The dark house suggests that you're living in a shadow right now and the blinds make me think of long hair. Also, you originally go to close the blinds, but see the demons first and they frighten you. To me, this suggests that you see something that you can't look away from (you know how sometimes in life, we see some horrific event and "can't look away"). So, even though you're trying to ignore what you see, you can't help but see it anyway- like you know it is still there even if you try not to think about it. 

The little girl is your inner child and you're trying to protect her. She is scared and shaking and you are feeling the same way. You're trying to protect her, but you're also feeling like a child who is scared and want someone to take you by the hand as well.  

The people and demons in the back and front of your house suggest that you are surrounded by whatever is scaring you. Also, they are all in costumes which tells me that they are not really what they seem- they are in "fake" clothes- so they're really something else in truth. Now, whether they are dressed to scare you, but are not really scary or they are dressed to cover up that they are "bad" underneath is something you'll have to decide for yourself based on how you felt in the dream or what you relate these people/demons to in your waking life.  

When you said, "In God's name GO"; that tells me that you are looking for some guidance from an outside source- may be a spiritual source if you are a spiritual person. Praying in your dream means that your unconscious self is asking for help. Asking for you to take action in your waking state.  

One thing you can do to alleviate your fear of going back to sleep is to just set a relaxing tone as you fall asleep- a hot bath or reading a good uplifting book can help you feel good as you fall asleep so your dreams might reflect that stress-free thinking. You might also try envisioning a different ending to the dream. Get into a relaxed state and actively imagine the dream again, but this time you'll be conscious and you can direct the ending differently- like, change the people into flowers or a beautiful landscape, or blow the people kisses and imagine them floating away. This might allow your unconscious mind to feel safe inside the house again.  

THE DREAM-
it is pretty simple. i barely remember it, but i was at a restaurant, with people i no longer recall. we were seated at a long, dark-colored wooden table with thick edges. i was ordering something i thought was vegetarian. i ordered six orders, one for each person. when we received it, i realized the dishes were not vegetarian at all; they looked like bread that is baked so that you can tear off small pieces of it, as in, the back looked cracked, like a turtle shell, only baked/cooked to be soft... and i realized then that on the plates were turtles, and i was thoroughly disgusted and i believe pushed it away from me.

THE INTERPRETATION-
Sitting at a long, dark table is about gathering together. The characters in your dream can represent different parts of yourself. I would say that the people at the table with you were other parts of you- that's why you ordered for everyone. The long dark wooden table with thick legs is about the richness of this dream and the strong foundation of support you have in your life.

Ordering vegetarion would represent asking for health or asking for something that is healthy for your body, i.e. something that is 'good for your healing or for your soul' at this time in your life.   Then, what you receive is not what you asked for.

It appears to be bread-like at first but turns into turtles later. The bread aspect is that of nourishment or getting whatyou need like your 'daily bread'. The turtle is an entree that is not normally served in our culture. It represents something foreign and gross- it could also represent death (death and re-birth is a common theme in dreams and does not necessarily mean literal death but death of an ideal or of innocence in life).  

When you pull all of that symbolism together, it seems to be suggesting that in some area of your life, you are seeking out counsel (within yourself or outside of yourself) like trying to pull resources together. You ask for some nourishment or for something to help give you what you need in your life but are surprised by what you receive. Think about your current life. Has anything happened lately where you have had to 'gather your strength' to deal with it and asked for guidance or help only to be surprised by the answer? Your mind seems to be reflecting on what you have been given in life lately.

My Dream:

My son was restless and not sleeping during the night- he’d gotten up a couple of times. The last time, at 4am, I brought him to our bed hoping that would help, but as soon as he got in it, he perked up and wanted to play. So, I took him back to his bed so I could get some sleep. When I came back in, my husband was already getting up for church- It was now 5 or 5:30 and time to get up.

I went into the bathroom and tried to turn on the light, but when I did, the floodlights in the backyard came on- not the bathroom light. I tried the light in the closet and the same thing happened. I couldn’t figure out what was happening or why the switches were turning on the backyard lights. My husband came in and said, “Oh, you need to do this.” And he flipped a large electrical handle. Then the closet light worked but the bathroom light still didn’t. I used a flashlight to look around and noticed that the bulbs over the bathroom vanity were broken. There was glass all over the sink. I also noticed the ceiling had a large hole in the top left corner over the sink. I pointed it out to my husband and said, “I think there’s a leak in the attic.” He dismissed the idea and I went to get my son up for Church.

In son's room, I noticed that several men were dumpster diving in our dumpster in the back yard. I pointed them out to my husband and we watched out the window- we tried to stay out of sight so they wouldn’t notice us watching. They dug out lots of old trash, mostly building materials, and carted it all away through and over our backyard fence. I said outloud that something felt “off” about this day and that something must be going on.

Then I was walking downstairs and stopped midway down because I was looking out the front of my house and noticed that the neighbor’s house was gone. There were lots of “volunteer workers” in my house and I asked one of them what happened to my neighbor’s house. They told me that a tornado hit our neighborhood last night and they were helping to clean and repair the damage. Then I noticed that the entire front of my house was missing. As I looked around, the whole downstairs (main level) of the house was damaged, but it was mainly the part that was along the exterior walls. It was like the house had been partially peeled away by the tornado. At that point I realized that all the strange stuff I had noticed was all part of the damage from the tornado. I felt in shock and relieved that nothing worse had happened, no one had been hurt. I also realized that it was the reason my son was restless all night. It worried me that he had noticed but we had not.

I went back upstairs and met some more volunteers in my son's bedroom. I thanked them for taking the time to come and help. One man asked me when I first knew something was wrong, so I began retracing my steps beginning with the light switch in the bathroom. Then, I woke up.

~When I woke up, it felt very very real and the dream seemed very tangible, like it was on the edge of my consciousness- like the man at the end was trying to get me to realize that it was a dream. But it also felt like a warning- I woke up feeling like I should check the structure of my home and I should pay attention to the weather.

Our dream group last night was amazing! We had some new people attend, which is always exciting, and plenty of familiar faces were there too! I aways love meeting new dreamers and seeing what the group can uncover for them and for me. One new dreamer said that ours was the most cohesive dream group she had ever been to! We have such a warm and friendly group of people who attend every time and it creates a safe atmosphere for everyone.

I did get a reminder last night of how direct dreams can be about our own personal issues. Someone shared a dream that was unexpectedly direct and it brought us all to tears. It is why I respect dreams so much. They can create a safe landscape in which to delve into our own deep issues and obstacles. And then, once we discover their meaning, the dream dissapates and allows us to move forward in life.

It is a new year! I spent the last part of 2010 in a hybernation of sorts. I set the computer down and got grounded in my life- as a mother, wife, and friend. I allowed time to pass without blogging or updating my facebook status or even updating this website.

As I was visiting with my sister and a friend of ours, the subject of dreams came up (naturally). My friend said, "I wish I could have you as my personal dream interpreter all the time. But, I really wish it was free!" This struck a chord with me because I have been thinking about offering free interpretations lately. What a coincidence that she would bring it up out of the blue, too! Of course, I know that there are no coincidences. As my mom says, "Coincidences are just miracles that God doesn't take credit for." "Ya know, I have been wanting to give interpretations for free," I said, "I've been trying to decide if I should." And as I spoke, I realized that I felt lighter somehow. It felt good to say it outloud. I realized that it feels more like me to offer them for free. I love, love, love doing it and I get so much satisfaction from helping someone solve the mystery within their dreams. I also love listening to people's dreams!

So, this year, I am offering my dream interpretations for free! It is my gift to you; simply because it is my passion and I can do what I want with it!

Since I have been hosting the Dream Study Group here in Atlanta, my dreams have been getting more beautiful, more colorful and more soulful. It has been an unexpected bonus in my life. Last night, for example, I dreamt I was on a sight seeing cruise and was looking out over the water to the unbelievably beautiful shoreline. It was like I was in a painting- with colors so intense and breathtaking that all I could do is watch it all as we sailed along. I had my camera and was trying to watch the scenery through the lens so I could capture the most perfect pictures and still watch without the camera so I could take in the full scope of it all. It was awesome.

I think that since I've been working with the members of the group, we've all become more deeply appreciative of our dreams and their potential to show us things beyond what we are capable of imagining.

In January of this year, I made a resolution. I usually come up with some standard, "I'm going to lose weight." or "I'll work out more" crap that never pans out. But this year, I had a new inspiration. During a day of jury duty in late 2009, I used my time pent up in the court system to write about my desire to be a professional dream interpreter. As I wrote in my diary for hours on end, I had an epiphany- I'd LOVE to be a radio personality dream interpreter! I hit on this idea with such excitement that it carried over through New Year's and became my 2010 resolution.

Fresh in my head, I used my nervous excitement to launch this website and later on in the year began hosting the North Atlanta Dream Study Group (still going strong). I spent most of the year hosting the dream group, running the website, and every once in a while putting an ad on Facebook.

Then, seemingly out of the blue, last week I got an email from a tv and film producer interested in speaking with me about dream interpetation AND I got an email request to be an on-air dream interpreter for beehivefm.com! I also made a second radio connection that hopefully will turn into some more air time! So now, I'm in talks with two different contacts about two media opportunities and I have had my first hour of on-air talk show time! (view it here)

I can't believe that as I'm putting away Halloween decorations and welcoming in the last 2 months of the year, my new year's resolution has been, well RESOLVED! It worked! Now, I've got 8 weeks to figure out a resolution for 2011. Any ideas?

I had a dream once where a lioness came right up to my face, touched her forehead to mine and telepathically said, "If I could have children I WOULD." She actually growled it. She was very angry.

I woke up from that dream and thought, "Wow, what could that mean?"

That was a few years ago when I was in the midst of trying to get pregnant. It took us 5 years, a few months at a fertility clinic, and an IUI procedure in order for us to get pregnant. It makes me laugh today because I knew exactly what the dream meant at the time, but I refused to hear the message.

Sometimes dreams bring us messages that we don't want or that we can't understand because we're too close to it. It can take time to learn from dreams and allow their messages to integrate into our lives.

Think back over your most memorable dreams. Do they have messages for you now that you are further removed from them? Can you see what they were illustrating about your life then?
