Darkness in dreams represents the unknown or the deepest parts of the unconscious mind. When there is light, there is knowledge or awareness (i.e. shedding light on a situation). The same light and dark concepts can be applied to people in dreams. Sometimes a person shows up in a dream but his or her face is obscured or not there, meaning you can see the person but can't see who it is. The person, then can be considered, "in the dark". This could mean that the character in the dream is in hidden deep within your unconscious mind. Consider this example, "I dreamt that I was in my wedding, only I couldn't see who the groom was. He was standing right beside me, but I couldn't see his face.I was afraid of him." In this case, the dreamer is married to her unconscious habits in life, those behaviors that she is unaware are controlling her life, specifically for her it was her eating habits. The groom in the dream represents the voice within her unconscious mind that has been with her for her entire life (her life partner).
